Flynn Esker

A callback to the ‘80s & ‘90s music and films I grew up with. Flynn Esker is a world full of heroes & villains, arcade machines, retro neon, post-apocalyptic aesthetic, synthesisers and melancholy melodies.

This is without a doubt, my biggest passion project to date and one I’m extremely proud of. I don’t even think the word “passion'“ quite covers it. Obsession, maybe.

What started well over a decade ago, Flynn has given me the ultimate unbound creative playground; from photography and filmmaking to merchandise and marketing, motion graphics and web design to illustration, print and of course, logo design; not to mention being completely self taught in music production. I’ve learnt so much from this project throughout the years and will do for many years to come, I’m sure.

Being such a personal project, I’d always kept it very much close to my chest. Perhaps one track released every couple of years to not much fanfare, and that’s out of hundreds that are just sitting, unheard on various hard drives.

It was during COVID that I decided to develop an EP for my first big release, complete with a cohesive marketing campaign, a listening party, flyers, the lot.

The EP was called “Off Grid” and I'm proud to say it won awards (within its little niche genre of course). It got playback a few times on a local London radio station; merchandise and digital copies of the EP were sold, and at its peak, Flynn had 500+ listeners per month on average on Spotify. I wrote, recorded and produced all of the music and visuals – artwork, social content, motion graphics, videos.
